How my economics education benefits my accounting/bookkeeping

Currently, I am working on studying for my Certified Bookkeeper exams through AIPB. That is the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. I could go back to college for my MBA (Masters in Business Administration). That requires a few more years of schooling though and I really don't have the time and/or the money to afford this at this time. One would think that you go from being a poor college student to a rich college graduate. This is not always the case. I ended up working for The Salvation Army for a year at minimum wage a few years after graduating with my Bachelor of Arts in Economics. A lot of people often ask me "why are you not using your degree?" I AM using my degree. Honestly. According to the Wikipedia article on Economics, "Economics is the social science that analyzes the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services." Working retail is using my degree. I currently work at Walmart, which is a fairly good place for an analytical mind like mine. Accounting is often said to be the "language of business". It is not just a bunch of nerdy number crunching wimps. I have met some really cool people that love accounting. My bookkeeping studies help keep me sharp in this area of knowledge. More on this later...
